Good Reason vs Real Reason

April 28, 2024 5:30 pm - April 30, 2024 7:30 pm

Aren’t businesses often projecting their work as service to societies,
But, isn’t business sheerly for the businessman’s profits?

Aren’t politicians promising welfare for others,
But, isn’t actual politics a mere contestation for seeking power?

Aren’t social workers proclaiming the efforts to bring change to society,
But, isn’t most social work work for self-recognition and self-glorification?

Aren’t artists heard of speaking to evoke deeper concerns and experiences,
But, aren’t artists actually seeking power and recognition through all their art and efforts?

Don’t we tell our relationships that we value them,
But, don’t we actually value our relations only till they are of some value to us?

Don’t we all speak of love,
But, aren’t all our fantasies of love more about being loved than giving love?

Good Reason vs Real Reason — a workshop studying the conflict between ‘The generous reason we tell others’ and ‘The selfish motivations we have inside.’
