ABOUT THE FILM:
The film focuses on the subject of gender being something more than a binary. It explores how the current society is pushing gender minorities to margins due to misinformation and lack of understanding about gender fluidity. The film also discusses the Trans Bill passes on 26th November 2019 and awaiting the signature of the President of India.
ABOUT THE FILMMAKERS:
Sameeksha and Sumit are freelance filmmakers based in New Delhi. They have previously worked on independent news video stories, short videos with The Wire, Newslaundry, Save the Children and other organizations based in the social sector. They have studied Mass Communication and Journalism from Film City Noida. 'Boxed', a self-funded project, is their first feature-length documentary. In 2019, they founded the production unit GAASH.
IN CONVERSATION WITH:
Rachelle Bharathi Chandran is a Dalit, Non-Binary identifying Pansexual person. Ze is currently pursuing research in the area of aesthetics and neuroimaging. Zir interests and work intersect within areas of intergenerational trauma, sex and gender within Dalit communities, accessible healthcare and creating support groups for marginalized persons.
Saesha identifies as a transwoman and prefers she/they pronouns. She has recently completed a Master's in Physics.
